Still everyone should by their stuff cos it s better than most other rompler soundware. Also being able to load VST / AU fx would be much cooler as well i don't rate a lot of the onboard fx. Also the fx limitation is a bit weird, why not load infinite chains of fx like live. It's not impossible to do that these days. I'd love to, it just sounds like a load of crappy loops to me, if you could separate *everything* into single hits or even better, if it was all programmed using the onboard fx so that you could swap in and out individual hits on the loops, then you would have something *really* cool. Stylus though, perhaps it's just that I don't get it. however going back to it again there are many interesting start points for sound design. Somewhere I have a free EXS bass multi sample that some dude gave away on the internet fro free which absolutely pwns all of the trilogy bass sounds. Personally I always thought that the 'real' bass sounds weren't too punchy. I just picked up Trillian on pre order and am planning on using it as an oscillator (or many different oscs to send into my modular. However, once you start programming their stuff can be quite cool. It's like they never heard of Chicago, Berlin or Detroit. it's Californian hiphop, film music and 'club' orientated (but nit clubs like Fabric, Tresor, Panorama Bar etc).
That has always ben my problem with the out of the box sounds of Spectrasonics stuff. Yes, I use the individual his a fair bit but the loops frankly suck. i know everyone is gonna tune in now and go no that's not the case, you can roll your onw. Stylus is the one of all of them that I am most, meh about. painted on elements, or montages, often kitchy, with necessarily no use other then being decorative. Art Deco Kitch galore!įunk designs: contemporary Apple hardware, Ableton, etc minimal and functional.Īrt Deco designs: Computer game interfaces, theme based designs, etc.
Dont mind it really, just that the silly factor ads up a bit when its a 2D software with painted on 3D elements. And its coming back in product design around ATM.
Functionalism came after the war, as people wanted to get back to, well, functionalism and simplicity! It had a comeback in the 60ties, and in the 80ties. Spectrasonics - Products - Stylus RMX - Reviews top 'Fantastic' 'Stylus RMX isn't simply a Stylus update any more than the Stealth bomber is a byplane upgrade. The core library sounds are excellent and varied, the drumkit construction facility is vast and the ability to surgically change loops at beat level in so many ways is fantastic.Having this degree of control. In architecture and product design Art Deco was big pre world war 2. Semi OT: I would love a second gui option to the standard Art Deco design from Spectrasonic! Some VST creators do it. But darnit, now with the Time Designer you can do there that you cant even do with Live 8! Or, it shold mostly be possible, but with RMX its almost instant, wheres in Live youd need some time to work on the audio loops. Hadnt used it much the last 12 months, because im geting more back to making my own loops with midi and drum racks. Can you name me one.? Just to avoid buying their stuff.Just saw the videos from 1.7, and must say I jaw droped! Havent updated since 1.5.
I don't know any other audio plugin company that wants cash money for license transfer. You are indeed a loyal Spectrasonics customer. Then sorry for beeing a little unbalanced.
I think Omnisphere was a $99 upgrade for those who owned Atmosphere, Trilogy/Trilian and RMX. Trilian was a free upgrade because of the inconvenience the Trilogy wrapper caused Mac users. Major free upgrades to RMX and Omnisphere that could very easily have been paid for upgrades.
Spectrasonics is pretty up front about the fact that they treat loyal customers well, and I can say this has most definitely been my experience. Many companies charge a fee for licence transfers, some companies simply don't allow transfers period, so there's nothing uniquely bad going on here. Just to bring some balance to this statement. I have Stylus RMX and Atmosphere but i haven't even installed it. Esky wrote:Spectrasonics is a shit company, they charge money from you if you want to resell your stuff.
